Bible Verse Breakdown

God gives different gifts to his children.  And in Ephesians 4, we are clearly told that the purpose of the gifts he gives is to edify the body of Christ, the Church.  What may seem easy to one member of the body, may be because it’s a gift given to that member.  Others may struggle with that discipline.  The goal of this space is to lay the foundation and help simplify the steps you can take to break down a verse in the bible and study it as it was intended to be received.

Tools For Studying His Word

You must start with your bible.  I like to use the King James Version because I believe it's the truest english version to the original text as inspired by the Holy Spirit.  This version isn't perfect, but seems to be the closest to the actual language translation.

Steps to the Study Process

  1. Prayer.  Ask for wisdom and understanding of his scripture for your life.

  2. Understand the context of the passage by reading the surrounding verses.  (Who wrote it?  To whom did they write it?  What are they talking about?)

  3. Write down the verse and circle key words.

  4. Look up the text in the Interlinear Bible.  Compare to the Version you wrote down.

  5. Write the Key words and corresponding word number given in the Interlinear Bible.

  6. Review definitions of keywords / word numbers from Biblehub.com.

  7. Rewrite the verse in your own words using the definitions of the keywords you learned from your study.
